What is Home Education?
Home education is when parents take direct responsibility for the education of their children. Home education can vary greatly according to family but all families seek to obtain optimum results in academics and character training.
What is HENB?
Formed in 1996, the Home Educators of New Brunswick (HENB) is a Christian non-profit organization made up of volunteers who desire to serve home educators and local support groups in New Brunswick, regardless of religious affiliation. Currently HENB has approximately 100 member families. There are likely over 400 home educating families across New Brunswick. HENB is funded through annual membership fees, donations from interested individuals, and an annual Spring Conference. As a non-profit organization, we are free to lobby the government to protect home education freedoms. Read more about Who We Are.
We provide a unified voice of home educating families across New Brunswick to parliament and among each home educating family.
As a member of HENB you are entitled to take advantage of the many businesses that provide special discounts for home educating families. Read more about the Discount Program.
HENB provides an annual Home Educators Conference where Maritime home educating families can be inspired by leaders from across North America. Read more about the Conference.
Used Curriculum Portal
Since home educating families are solely responsible for buying their own curriculum, taking advantage of used curriculum from other families saves tons of money. As an HENB member you get exclusive access to the used curriculum portal on our members-only section. Read more about the Used Curriculum Portal.
Many Other Benefits
For a more detailed list of the benefits of being an HENB member, see our Top Ten Benefits.
